Chris Power has been married to Velmay for over 12 years. He loves his wife deeply and considers it his joy to be a faithful and loving husband to her and their two beautiful children. They currently reside in Tyler, Texas, and are members at Central Baptist Church in Jacksonville, Texas.
After completing his bachelor’s degree at the University of Texas at Tyler, Chris has spent most of his career on the “business” side of organizations. With over 30 years in the environmental consulting field, he is the current Executive Vice President of a local firm. Chris has also been sole-owner of an environmental contracting company for over 25 years. Chris grew up in a missionary church family, where his grandad’s were both in the ministry serving as a pastor and a missionary, and his father was a song leader. He credits his strong desire to serve others to his father and mother who were both active in serving in the church throughout his childhood, from leading the singing, teaching Sunday school classes, cleaning the church, singing in the choir, to picking up bus kids on Sunday. There was never a time Chris was present that he wasn’t shown by example from his parents and grandparents how to serve others.
Chris enjoys sports, fishing, and anything outdoors, but spending time with his family is his true joy. Chris looks forward to and appreciates the opportunity to use his business skills (creating, developing, sustaining, and growing for nonprofit and for-profit companies) for ministry purposes. He looks forward to doing the same for the Bridges ministry.
Velmay Power is a woman of faith who takes pride in being a loving and supportive wife to her best friend and husband, Chris Power. She has been blessed with two beautiful children, Lloyd Pierre Power and Sendra Power, who are the joy of her life. Velmay is an active member of her church, where she loves volunteering in the Sunday school program. She was born in South Africa and moved to the United States at a very young age after losing her mother. Despite the hardships she has faced, Velmay has always cherished her family and the bond she shares with her loved ones. Velmay also helps take care of her intellectually disabled aunt, with her sister. She is passionate about serving vulnerable people, especially children, and giving back to her community. After unexpectedly losing her father in 2016, Velmay and her sister have taken over their family's businesses, which have been serving the Bullard area for over 25 years. Velmay is currently pursuing her passion for Christian discipleship by studying at Southwestern Biblical Theological Seminary in Fort Worth.
